I’m a mushroom I’m a mushroom I come up when I feel rather right When it’s sunny When it’s rainy All that weather keeps me on my toes 'Cause don’t ya know We like to dance We like to move n groove n Share all nutrients With the trees And the bees From down below Under the ground We WHISPER Through connections Just like you humans Your body and its nerves know what to do Communicate! Send those messages! When you’re hungry, or you’re angry Or your tongue starts turning blue! I’m a mushroom I’m a mushroom I’m connected to 90% of all plants! We do a lot of work It’s in the earth Through mycelium Mycelawut??? Mycelium! Those little white threads That connect me to that tree And your heart to your head Say it again! Mycelium! Say it again! Mycelium! They grow like this And move like that Making sure That the soil Stays strong and healthy And free of oil I’m a mushroom I’m a mushroom Here in the Northwest We love to grow On rotting trees Oh they’re the bee’s knees! On Douglas Fir or even Western Hemlock We decompose! And the earth knows We do this to make room for new life Look around for us In a garden or two We love wood chips We think they’re real hip Or catch us on a stump We often look real plump But remember some things Don’t put us in your mouth Or kick us around We’re just trying to make the season’s shine I’m a mushroom I’m a mushroom I come up when I feel rather right A little sign Of what’s below And all the love that makes it possible to grow!

There’s so many ways that death can come So many ways to outrun If you’ve seen me on the hill You know time won’t stand still There’s so many ways to face the fear There’s so many hours to hold you, dear So many moons to hear how deep you cry If you catch the tide To forget about the ways to hide There’s so many ways that death can come inside When it’s scary and dark out, babe, you know what to do And all these ships just keep on sailin’ never to come back to me There’s so many ways that death can come inside To realize you’re not the only one in sight You’ve got to embody the love between your eyes Take it for a walk and eventually you’ll ask those people not to hide from me There’s so many ways that death can come to life There’s lots of shiny treasures if you dig real deep, it’s true The only way to be strong is to love through and through Take responsibility to adapt To your wild heart and find the bridge you’ve had from the start There’s so many ways to transform your little lightning spark You never could you’re never good enough to win Well it’s surely not a game you can spin The only way to look back on it, dear Is to look forward there’s more than what’s here There’s so many ways that death can come to life A knock on the door means the old you steps aside See how deep your breath gets when you are near The oldest form of freedom, it’s begging you here There’s so many ways that death comes to life There’s so many ways that death comes to life
